The Boxes
Bee Box

The Bee Box holds your bees, 27 to start and up to 108 at higher tiers. Drop in filled Productive Bees cages.
Each slot shows the bee and a green bar for its progress. Your bees stay safe even if the structure breaks.
- Click a slot with a filled cage to add a bee
- Click with an empty cage to take one back out
- Hover a bee to see its name and genes

Recipes on this page are read from what your game actually loaded, so a modpack that retunes one shows its own version here.
Flower Box

The Flower Box holds the flowers and blocks your bees need, 27 slots to start and up to 108. Each bee looks here for its flower.
Flowers are never used up, so one of each is enough. A bee with no valid flower just waits until you add one.
- Some bees, like lumber and quarry bees, pick a random valid block each batch, so offering several gives you a mix of outputs
- Many bees want a specific block rather than a flower, such as an ore bee's ore

Storage

The Storage collects everything your bees make, 27 slots to start and up to 108. Higher tiers also hold far more per slot.
If it fills up, bees pause until there is room, so nothing is lost.
Higher Storage tiers also hold more in each slot:
- Items: 64, then 256, 1,024, and 4,096
- Fluid: 32k, 128k, 512k, and 1 million mB
The Bee and Flower boxes just gain extra slots.

Box Tiers

The Bee, Flower, and Storage boxes each come in four tiers. Every tier adds another 27 slots, up to 108.
You can spot a box's tier from its trim: plain, then silver, gold, and bright cyan at the top.
Two ways to raise a tier:
- Craft the higher box and place it
- Use a Box Upgrade item on a box that is already down - it bumps it up a tier and keeps everything inside

Box Upgrade Items
Each upgrade item is built around the same item its box is built around, so no two share a recipe.
Upgrades go one tier at a time.
Controller

The Controller runs the apiary and holds the upgrades. Its screen shows how many bees are working and whether the structure is in one piece.
Its five slots take: Speed, Productivity, Block, Gene Sampler, and Centrifuge. See Upgrades for what each one does.
These are separate from the box tiers - one improves how bees work, the other gives you more room.
Optional ME Storage Interface
With Applied Energistics 2 installed, the ME Storage Interface can replace either Storage position. It sends both item and fluid products to a powered, channel-connected ME network in the same production tick.
- Only one interface may be attached to an apiary
- The interface always receives output before physical Storage Boxes
- Any output the network rejects falls through to the side Storage and then the top Storage
- If every destination is full, the bee waits with its output safely queued
- Overflow already stored in a physical box is not imported when the network returns
- Sneak-use the interface to cycle Always Active, Active with Signal, and Active without Signal
Its recipe uses a Tier 3 Storage Box, an AE2 Annihilation Core, an AE2 Formation Core, glass, and iron. The block and recipe are registered only while AE2 is installed, so use your recipe viewer to see the loaded recipe.
