Fog, sky, light and weather that actually react to the biome you are standing in.

Some of it is ported or borrowed from newer Minecraft versions, the rest is stuff vanilla never had.
Everything is client side, and every single value is configurable.
Worried about FPS? Don't be. The impact is somewhere between none and NONE.

What you get passively

Install it and these will be automatically running!

Biome fog	Fog takes its colour and its distance from the biome you are in, and fades smoothly when you walk into a new one.
Depth haze	A light haze on the terrain in front of you, so distance actually reads as distance instead of flat texture.
Height fog	Thicker down low, thinner up high. Valleys sit in it, mountain tops rise out of it or sum.
Void fog	Dark fog that shows up when you are deep underground.
Horizon band	A soft fog colour along the horizon and a optional sky fog so the skyline dissolves instead of ending in a hard line.
Sunset tint	The fog warms up when you face the rising or setting sun..
Weather tint	The fog warms up while rain or snow is happening.
Coloured light	Warm light from torches and lava and cold light from the sky after dark etc. Same stuff as modern Minecraft's light tint.
Better stars	Star count, brightness and twinkle are all tunable, and you can even turn on daytime stars if you want them!
Cloud range	Clouds reach a configurable amount. Max 64!
Underwater	Per biome underwater colour and visibility range, the way newer versions do it.
Grass, leaves and water	Re-colouring whole ass foliage, water and blocks!

Atmosphere Editor

Press F8 in game. It edits the biome you are standing in while you watch.
No need to reload, restart or no config file. There's Six tabs and a colour picker with presets.

With the right mind, you can do A LOT!

Fog	Fog Colour, Fog Start, Fog End, Fog Shape (cylinder or sphere)
Sky	Sky Colour, Sky Tint Strength
Weather	Rain Colour, Rain Effect, Thunder Colour, Rain fog, storm fog darkening, storm sky darkening, storm cloud darkening, tint while wet
Depth	Near Haze Override, Height Fog, Void Fog Strength, Ambient Tint, Water Fog Colour, Water Fog Distance
Style	Saturation Boost, Brightness Shift, Dawn/Dusk Tint, Dawn Intensity, Night Tint, Night Intensity
Colors	Grass Colour, Foliage Colour, Water Colour
Clouds	Render Dist, Cloud Color, Darker at night, fog colour matching, story mode like clouds, puff size, puff height, cloud height, sky coverage, drift speed, strecth sideways, stretch lengthways.
Clouds Detail	Shaded sides, coloud color strength, fade into fog, see-through, soft bottom, soft top, bumpiness, ragged edges, whole second layer, second layer height, second layer coverage.

Any colour can be left on Auto, which means the biome keeps whatever it already had.

Config files

If you would rather type than click stuff, both files are in config/let_there_be_atmosphere/.

• settings.properties: the global stuff. Every option has a plain English comment above it explaining what it does, so you are not guessing at names. Delete a line to get its default back.
• biomes.json: everything the F8 editor writes, one entry per biome. Colours are hex so you can paste them straight out of any colour picker, and "auto" means hands off.
• Master switch: at the top of the settings file. Set it to false and the mod does nothing at all, handy for before and after shots without pulling the jar.

Compatibility

• Minecraft 1.20.1, Forge. Client side, you do not need it on the server.
• Embeddium / Sodium: supported. The mod hooks their cloud renderer and their fog options instead of fighting them.
• Shaders: shader packs draw their own sky and fog, so most of this gets overridden while one is loaded.

Recommended: Use it with Shading Begone for an even prettier world and a small performance gain on top!
